Baths – Obsidian Review

Baths - Obsidian

Hauntingly beautiful, complex, and flawed.

There’s a deeply personal feeling to this Baths album from the mixture of amateurish falsettos to the presentation of these dark and mostly painful lyrics – which are of course poignantly written. The juxtaposition of these more sombre thoughts with very tonally upbeat electronic and distorted compositions furthers the originality to me, making it all the more interesting and unique.

It’s my first venture into Will Wiesenfeld’s work, but it’s probably going to be hard to top this. “No Eyes” and “Ossuary” have both become staples in my favourite songs of all time list.
